MEALS ON WHEELS

(HOME DELIVERED MEALS)

MOC’s Meals on Wheels program provides meals to elders who need help preparing their meals and who are unable to attend a community dining site because of health issues or a lack of transportation. Each meal meets one-third of the USDA’s Daily Recommended Dietary Allowances for adults and is appropriate for a “no added salt” diet.  For people who have problems eating regular food due to medical conditions, special meals can be prepared and delivered with a prescription from a doctor.  Please ask for further information on these special meals.  A voluntary, confidential contribution of $3.00 per meal to help cover costs is suggested. Once a month we send a contribution request letter and pre-addressed stamped envelope to program participants.

In order to be eligible for Meals on Wheels, applicants must be age 60 years or over and homebound. Please call 978-345-8501 ext. 5 for more info.

GROUP DINING CAFES

MOC’s Group Dining Cafes provide nutritionally balanced lunches served in local senior centers, community meeting halls, and elder apartment complexes. These cafe sites offer a place for elders to socialize over lunch and obtain information about other services available to them. The hot noontime meals meet one-third of the USDA’s Daily Recommended Dietary Allowances. Diet desserts are available for those with diabetes/ pre-diabetes or those just watching their weight by choice.  Many but not all towns serve meals Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays.  There are no meals served on weekends and meals are not served at breakfast or supper times. A reservation must be made in advance at the specific meal site you wish to attend (see below for a list of meal sites and their phone numbers). A voluntary, confidential contribution of $3.00 per meal to help cover meal costs is suggested.
